An 18-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting his father in their rural Montgomery home.
Jonas Nelson is charged with second-degree murder in Le Sueur County Court.
KTOE-AM reports the complaint says Nelson called 911 the night his father, 47-year old Richard Nelson, was shot and said he needed to report a murder.
Jonas Nelson told investigators he was upstairs in his bedroom when he heard what sounded like a gunshot through a window, then went downstairs and found his father dead on the floor.
The teen told investigators his father can be harsh, and that things had been "weird" since he moved back in with his father.
Investigators told Nelson to tell the truth. He then confessed to killing his father with a rifle from one of the gun cabinets.
Bail is set at $2 million.
