Minneapolis' 2013 crime statistics showed a decrease in juvenile crimes and burglaries, but violent crime increases contributed to an overall crime increase.
According to the city, overall crime is up less than 1 percent, with violent crime up 4 percent.
Despite the increases, the last five years have been the lowest for crime since the 1960s, according to officials.
The city put a special focus on burglaries and ended the year with 167 fewer burglaries than 2012.
Another focus was juvenile crime, where there was a 4.6 percent decrease from 2012 to 2013.
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges and Police Chief Janée Harteau presented the findings Tuesday morning at the Hennepin County Northeast Library.
