Before it has carried one vehicle across the St. Croix River to Wisconsin, the new river bridge is paying dividends.
Stillwater City officials tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they're seeing big changes in the St. Croix River Valley before the new river bridge has opened. Stillwater City Council member Doug Menikheim says, "We have seen some new projects get approved much quicker because of the anticipation of the new bridge that's already being built."
Menikheim says there will be a new 2,500 seat outdoor amphitheater in Lowell Park next to the St. Croix River. A developer has his eye on a historic street corner in downtown Stillwater, and a new bike path traveling all the way to St. Paul will soon be built in Stillwater.
Council member, Menikheim says all of those projects are connected to the start of construction of the new St. Croix River bridge.
