A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Minneapolis Friday, according to police.
Alberta M. Giest, 55 of Brooklyn Center, died at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after suffering multiple blunt force injuries as a result of the collision, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Police officers from the fourth precinct responded to the intersection of Osseo Road and North 49th Avenue on a report of a pedestrian hit just around 9:45 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle, driven by an 18 year old woman, was northwest on Osseo Road when it hit Giest, who was crossing the street at North 49th Avenue.
The driver stopped and rendered aid, along with several bystanders.
Police say the driver is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
