Gov. Mark Dayton isn't saying if he asked for the resignation of Minnesota's health insurance exchange's director, but says he's ultimately responsible for the success or failure of the venture.

Dayton was asked several times at a news conference Thursday if he pushed for the exit of MNsure director April Todd-Malmlov, who resigned on Tuesday. He says he won't comment on his role, but notes that he was vocal with his concern about MNsure's problems in recent days.

Dayton says he grew increasingly worried in mid-November as MNsure seemed to encounter new problems with its website and call center, even as issues with the federal health care exchange were getting solved.

Dayton says he doesn't think he's at fault for MNsure's challenges but "ultimately the buck stops here."
