A man was hospitalized with minor injuries after the snow removal truck he was driving was hit by a train in St. Paul.

The incident happened around midnight Friday on the 2500 block of Doswell Street near Highway 280.

St. Paul Police say the truck was removing snow out of downtown Minneapolis, and the driver thought he could beat a slow-moving train that was backing up. The train hit the truck and pushed it about 100 yards down the track.

The train cars were empty at the time, but several of the cars derailed and there was a small leak of diesel fuel that was cleaned up.
