After a Facebook post of two deer trapped on the ice on a lake in Albert Lea, two men emerged to help the stranded animals.
KSTP's sister station KAAL posted a picture of two deer stuck on Albert Lea Lake over the weekend. On Monday, two men posted a video of them rescuing the deer.
Doug and James Kenison, owners of Medcity Hovercraft, used two hovercrafts to glide over the partially frozen lake. The pair found three deer more than a quarter mile from the shore.
“They weren't actually stuck in the ice, it was just so slippery that they just couldn't get their footing,” James said. “It looked like one of the deer actually came closer to us. It just seemed like he knew we were there to help."
The father and son team tied the deer to ropes and dragged them to the nearest shoreline.
One of the deer ran off quickly while the others struggled to regain their strength.
