Just after 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Vikings will host the official groundbreaking ceremony for their new stadium.

Some of the work actually started on Monday as crews started dismantling the VIP lot on the east side of the Metrodome.

Fans are invited to attend the groundbreaking, but there's a small window of time to get free tickets.

The team will be giving away tickets starting at 9 a.m. at Gate D at the Metrodome. The Vikings will hand out about 250 tickets, they expect former and current players to take part.

The Vikings last game at the Dome is on Dec. 29 against the Lions.

The Metrodome will be torn down in January. The new stadium is expected to open by July of 2016.
