911 Transcript to St. Louis Park Police

St. Louis Park police and fire released the following joint statement:

“The St. Louis Park Fire and Police departments wish to extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families involved in the automobile accident that occurred yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and everyone directly and indirectly affected by this tragedy.  An incident like the one that occurred yesterday certainly reminds us about the preciousness of life. It also reminds us that any in given moment, our first responders and bystanders will put their lives in danger to come to the aid of complete strangers. Yesterday was no exception. Within moments of the accident, a resident of a nearby building rushed from his apartment and entered the water to provide assistance as soon as he heard the screams of one of the victims. Our police officers then arrived just a minute or two after the 911 call, and risking their own peril entered the water in hopes of reaching the trapped children. Less than four minutes later, the St. Louis Park Fire Department was on the scene of the accident and immediately put on protective gear and entered the water. The St. Louis Park firefighters broke through the windows of the car and removed the victims, while the car was submerged. We offer our deepest gratitude to the men and women of the St. Louis Park Police and Fire departments, bystanders, and other supporting agencies including Hennepin County EMS, the Hennepin County Water Patrol and the Minnesota State Patrol. The resident bystander has asked that the media respect his privacy at this time. We’ve attached the transcript of 9-1-1 calls received from other witnesses. Thank you in advance for requesting these privacy requests, and please keep everyone involved in this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”
