With less than two weeks to Thanksgiving, you might be thinking about the turkey you want to put on the dinner table.

One Minnesota farmer is trying to get two turkeys ready, but for a completely different reason. John Burkel of Badger, Minnesota, which is near the Canadian border, is working to pick two prize turkeys to be pardoned by the president.

Four turkeys are trying out for the gig right now. Burkel is spending time with them and getting them ready for the media blitz.

"A lot of music in the background, a lot of extra lighting and some flash bulbs flashing in their face, so they get used to that, said Burkel.

Pretty soon Burkel will choose the top two turkeys and head to Washington, D.C. There the birds will get the big pardon and then spend their lives at Mount Vernon.
