We’re learning more about a fatal crash between a Minneapolis police car and a motorcyclist that happened earlier this year.
The crash happened on May 10 as police were rushing to the scene of an officer-involved shooting. Ivan Romero died when his bike collided with the squad car.
Police initially released little information about that crash, but on Thursday Police Chief Janee Harteau held a news conference to outline the details, including showing dramatic squad car video of the crash.
Harteau said the responding officer, Joshua Young, was not "over the line" as he responded to the house where police officers had shot and killed Terrance Franklin May 10. Harteau says the investigation shows the officer weaved through traffic and entered the intersection on a red light at 16 to 17 mph. The police SUV had its lights and siren activated at the time of the collision.
Harteau says no charges will be filed and there will be no discipline against Young.
