After the Target Center vote Tuesday morning, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Mayor-Elect Betsy Hodges met behind closed doors.

This was their first opportunity to meet and discuss the transition that will take place over the next two months.

Both agree the budget is the most pressing issue that needs to get done.

"There is a lot of work to get done, passing a budget while also transitioning is a big undertaking, but one I look forward to,” said Hodges.

Hodges praised mayor Rybak, saying she is getting advice from one of the city's finest.

Rybak says he's relieved not to be done with his job of 12 years, but to be handing it off to someone who he says is so competent, and someone he knows will do a great job leading the city.

KSTP asked how she would grade Mayor Rybak's time in office, she said, "A+, and write down that i had no hesitation in saying that."

Rybak responded, "I give myself an incomplete, because I ain't done yet."

Hodges will be sworn in as Mayor of Minneapolis on Jan. 2, 2014.

Mayor Rybak took office in 2002 and served three terms.
