How important is it to prepare for the worst? If a loved one unexpectedly dies, many Minnesotans are forced to cope not just with grief, but with frustration.

There is so much information that will suddenly need your attention: wills, trusts, estates, health care directives, powers of attorney, bank accounts, credit cards, pension plans, frequently flier miles, insurance documents, investments, beneficiary information.

KSTP's Brad Sattin showed us how loved ones can suddenly be inundated with paperwork during the worst of times. A little preparation now can save a lot of aggravation later.

Which is why Brad flew home to the East Coast to have "the talk" with his own folks, days after celebrating their 50th anniversary.

That's when Brad learned he was his parents' executor. He had no idea. And there's much more his family learned about their level of preparedness.

Watch the story to learn the most important questions Brad asks his parents, and then... ask them to your loved ones.
