Cretin-Derham Hall Football Player Dies in Eagan Crash

The teenage driver who died after crashing into a power pole in Eagan Sunday morning has been identified.

Sixteen-year-old Max Lowell died in the crash. He was a junior at St. Paul's Cretin-Derham Hall and was on the school's football team, according to school officials.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Cliff Road around 12:30 a.m., where the car had gone off the roadway. Lowell of Inver Grove Heights was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident downed power lines and residents in the area lost power for several hours.
