After dark it becomes much harder to keep an eye on all the soldiers and superheroes on Halloween.

"Be aware," said Sgt. Paul Paulos with St. Paul Police. "Children are present, people really aren't paying attention to what's going on."

Sgt. Paulos says patrols will have a visible presence in neighborhoods throughout the city, and so should you.

"The more visible you can be, the better off you will be," he said.

Police see more tricks in addition to the treats this time of year, too.

"Sometimes people do go out and maybe want to do a robbery, do a burglary," said Sgt. Paulos. "They're more concealed, they have a costume on."

Paulos suggests sticking to a familiar area to avoid any unwanted tricks.

"This is not about hindering fun. It's about having fun and hopefully a very memorable experience."
