Young chess players participated in a tournament Saturday in Champlin to remember a rising star taken too soon.

They played in honor of Anarae Schunk, the 20-year-old U of M student who went missing from a bar in Burnsville last month.
Schunk was an active chess player and coach.
Donations from the tournament will fund chess scholarships and activities for local youth.
Schunk's body was found in a roadside ditch near Lonsdale. Rosemount police say they believe she died at a townhouse where she went with her ex-boyfriend and his girlfriend after they left Nina's Grill in Burnsville early Sept. 22.
Schunk's ex-boyfriend, Shavelle Chavez-Nelson, is accused of killing 23-year-old Palagor Obang Jobi of Savage, outside the bar. Police have said Schunk's death is related to that investigation.

Charges in her death are not expected for several weeks.
