Illegal dumping is a problem facing many counties around the metro.
Dakota County has had 50 illegal dumping complaints so far this year; that's more then one per week.
On a rural road south of Hastings a few weeks ago, someone dumped so much stuff it shocked homeowners and authorities. One homeowner told KSTP he feels like he lives near a junkyard.
Officials at the Dakota County Sheriff's Office say illegal dumping is an on-going problem and hard to stop.
"If you see somebody out on the roadways call us, write down a license plate number and let us know," said Dakota County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Tim Leslie.
Residents are urged to take items they can't throw out in the trash to a recycling center.
