A Chanhassen homeowner could face criminal charges because he wanted a better lake view.
The city says Pete Rockford hired a tree service to have dozens of trees removed along Lotus Lake. The only problem -- and this is big one -- the trees were not his property.
Once neighbors saw the 17 trees being cut, they quickly called the Carver County Sheriff's Office and the work stopped.
The city of Chanhassen has offered Rockford a deal: pay more than $12,000 to replace the trees or he may face criminal charges.
