Two suspects were arrested after an overnight chase in the North Metro.
The incident started around 1:30 a.m. Thursday when an alarm at the Xcel Energy substation on the 6900 block of Highway 65 in Fridley went off. The alarm was set because Xcel had been having problems with copper burglaries and other break-ins at the location, police say.
Police responded to the scene, and the suspect allegedly rammed both a Fridley and a Spring Lake Park squad car. The officers weren’t injured.
The suspect then reportedly led police on a chase down Interstate 35W ending at Interstate 694. The driver of the car bailed, but the female passenger stayed in the truck and was arrested.
The driver was then arrested a short time later.
Both suspects could face second-degree assault charges because of the ramming incident. The Fridley Police Department is investigating the incident.
