Target laid off 150 employees Wednesday at its corporate office in Minneapolis.
The layoffs were caused by changes and shifts in roles and responsibilities, according to Amy Reilly, company spokeswoman. Reilly didn't comment on what departments were affected by the layoffs. She said the layoffs happened across a number of areas.
The layoffs were determined based on areas where there was "clear duplication" of roles and overlapping responsibilities, Reilly said. Also, layoffs happened in departments where a more cost-effective business model could be implemented.
Reilly didn't comment on whether more layoffs could be expected at Target. She said the company is always evaluating its overall business model and needs on a corporate level.
