Josh Freeman is headed to Minnesota.

Freeman's agent, Erik Burkhardt, revealed the move in an exclamatory one-word tweet about his client Sunday night: "Vikings!!!"

KSTP's Darren Wolfson has confirmed that the Vikings will sign quarterback Josh Freeman on Monday, according to a source close to Freeman. The Vikings now have three quarterbacks who were starters last season, with Freeman joining Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel.

Burkhardt also confirmed to The Associated Press in a phone interview that Freeman agreed to a one-year deal for $3 million.

Freeman was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday. The winless Bucs made the latest move during their bye week after general manager Mark Dominik contacted every other team in the NFL in an unsuccessful attempt to trade Freeman, a 4,000-yard passer a year ago and the team's career leader with 1,144 completions and 80 touchdowns.

Freeman is owed the remaining $6.25 million on the contract he signed as the third quarterback selected in the 2009 draft behind Matthew Stafford and Mark Sanchez.

He had a breakout season in 2010 when he threw 25 touchdown passes and only 6 interceptions. Freeman's stock has fallen over the last two seasons and he was benched in favor of rookie Mike Glennon after an 0-3 start this season.

KSTP's Joe Schmit says this could signal the beginning of the end for Christian Ponder.

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier will address the media on Monday following the Vikings' first practice coming off their bye week.

The Vikings host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Mall of America Field.
