Doctors Link CrossFit to Rare Condition
One of the hottest exercise trends right now, comes with a warning. Doctors say they've seen people who do CrossFit, a military-style type workout, develop a deadly condition.
The condition is called rhabdomyolysis or just rhabdo for short. It happens when you push your body so hard that your muscle cells burst. Rhabdo can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal.
ABC News reports, the condition is rare, but doctors say they've seen many CrossFit participants get it.
But, Crossfit supervisors say rhabdo is not unique to CrossFit. Other extreme athletes have gotten it too.
Doctors say participants need to pay attention while working out and stop if they show extreme symptoms.
