Miss NY Crowned as Miss America, Miss MN 4th Runner Up
A new woman is wearing the Miss America crown, and she's from the same state as the previous Miss America.
Miss New York, Nina Davuluri, won the crown in the competition Sunday night in Atlantic City. She performed a classical Bollywood fusion dance for her talent competition. She is the first winner of Indian descent.
The nationally televised pageant was back in Boardwalk Hall. Sam Haskell, CEO of the Miss America Organization, is delighted it played out in Atlantic City again after a six-year stint in Las Vegas. "This is where we belong, this is the home of Miss America, and this is where we're going to stay."
Miss Minnesota, Rebecca Yeh, of Nisswa made it all the way into the top five of the competition and she placed as fourth runner up. She played the violin in the talent competition.
Miss Minnesota has won the crown three times in pageant history. The last was in 1989, won by Gretchen Carlson.
