A St. Paul man accused of killing a man and injuring another while fleeing from police earlier this week has been charged in the incident.
Yia Her, also known as Lia Her, 34, was charged Wednesday in Hennepin County District Court with two counts of felony fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle with injury or death.
Her remains in custody in the county jail on $500,000 bail. The criminal complaint against Her can be found here.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Fourth Street Southeast and Central Avenue in Minneapolis. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding and suspicion of drunk driving. The driver, identified as Her, initially stopped but then fled the scene, eventually crashing into the other vehicle, police said.
The crash killed 20-year-old Brody Sotona, of Spring Valley, Wis., and seriously injured 24-year-old Connor Macklin, of Stillwater, Minn.
Macklin remains hospitalized in critical condition. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner reported that Sotona died from blunt force head injuries.
