Driver Killed by Fleeing Suspect Had 'Passion for Music'

An innocent driver was killed and his passenger was badly injured after a suspect fleeing from police slammed into their car.
The crash happened around 1 a.m. Monday at Fourth Street Southeast and Central Avenue in Minneapolis.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding and suspicion of drunk driving. The driver, identified as 34-year-old Yia Her of St. Paul, initially stopped but then fled the scene, eventually crashing into the other vehicle, police say.
The crash killed 20-year-old Brody Sotona of Spring Valley, Wis., and seriously injured 24-year-old Connor Macklin of Stillwater, Minn. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Sotona died from blunt force head injuries.
The superintendent of the School District of Spring Valley says Sotona was enrolled in Minneapolis Community and Technical College and was majoring in sound arts. The superintendent says Sotona was well-liked and played basketball, football and golf.
The family sent out the following statement:
"Brody was a fun, loving, 20 year old who enjoyed life to the fullest. Brody had a passion for music and his band, 'Crush.' He loved to have a good time with friends and family and will be missed tremendously by them."
