Ramsey Co. Commission Takes Bids for Major Riverfront Demo
The Ramsey County Commission is taking bids to tear down seven unoccupied buildings along the St. Paul riverfront.
County Commissioner Rafael Ortega says removing the buildings will make the area more desirable to developers. "A lot of the folks I talked to said it will be a whole lot easier if it was torn down and ready to be developed," Ortega said.
Ortega says a renewed riverfront would be part of a revitalization of downtown St. Paul, "The Union Depot is something that has changed the lower town, I think it's still changing the rest of the city. I think this is another piece to that. I think the stadium is a piece of that. I think you're going to see a vibrancy that in ten years with the city of Saint Paul."
The county expects to have bids and be able to make decisions in six months.
