The Twin Cities has been nearly rain free for almost two weeks, which could be damaging your lawn. Jeff Blaschka from Top Choice Lawn Care says it's time to water.
"Generally you want to give it one inch a week, that's generally the rule," said Blaschka.
It's also a good time to top seed existing lawns. "The summer annuals are done. The crabgrass will die off in the fall, and that gives us the opportunity if you put seed down now, it will germinate," said Blaschka.
Weeds dominate growth in the spring but grass gets the upper-hand in the fall. Blaschka says a homeowner could start top seeding this weekend, but no later than the end of September.
