Survey Results Allow Minn. Patients to See Rankings of Clinics
Choosing a doctor in the state of Minnesota just got a bit easier, thanks to more than 230,000 patients who responded to a statewide survey.
The Minnesota Community Measurement group and the Minnesota Department of Health took all the information they received and compiled lists on www.mnhealthscores.org.
The site allows users to enter their address and find clinics close to them. Patients can even narrow the search down to the type of condition they are dealing with.
Users can also look at clinics based on ratings from the data. There are 651 clinics across the state included in the results. The clinics are ranked on the ability to get an appointment, communication between the staff and patient and even the cost.
Organizers of the study call it the largest and most comprehensive statewide patient experience survey in the U.S.
Dr. Michael Bozivich says, "It's a new day in medicine and what I think today is... the start of the first day of looking at quality through access and communication."
Individual doctors aren't rated on the site, but you can find out the rating of the office where your doctor works.
In the future MN Community Measurement hopes more comprehensive survey results from hospitals will also be available to help patients online.
