Active Shooter Emergency Drill Held on U of M Campus
It's a scene you never want to have to live through in real life, let alone even imagine. But today the University of Minnesota staged a scene with two shooters inside the Regis Center for Art so law enforcement could prepare for the worst.
Officers from U of M campus police partnered with Minneapolis police, the Hennepin County SWAT team and the FBI for the largest emergency drill ever on campus.
In a real mass shooting there would be so much coordinating that'd have to be done, today's exercise helps all of the agencies work together; hoping the lessons learned while practicing never get put into actual use.
Participating agencies include the University of Minnesota Department of Emergency Management, Minneapolis Police Department, Minneapolis Fire Department, Minneapolis Public Works, Minneapolis SWAT, East Metro SWAT, Metro Transit Police Department, Hennepin County Emergency Management, Hennepin County Medical Center, Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
