Severely Beaten St. Paul Man Remains Critical

A St. Paul man who was beaten nearly to death earlier this month remained hospitalized Monday, Aug. 12, in critical condition.
Ray Widstrand, 26, was jumped around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, by a group of about 40 to 50 people in the area of Preble Street and Minnehaha Avenue, according to police.
Upon arrival, police found Widstrand on the ground, bleeding.
Many of the people who attacked him have been linked to local gangs, according to police. Three juveniles have been arrested, in addition to 19-year-old Isaac Maiden.
Police anticipate that more arrests could be made.
