New MRI Safe Device to Help Millions in Chronic Pain
A ground breaking surgery in Twin Cities will help millions suffering from chronic pain.
For the first time in the Midwest a MRI safe neurostimulator was implanted in a patient at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina on Wednesday.
The device from Medtronic will help eliminate chronic pain and allow a body MRI scan.
Before, patients with an implant couldn't have a MRI because the device created a magnetic field.
In the United States the number of MRI's has nearly doubled in the past decade to 32 million scans, that's more then one MRI per second.
