Misdemeanor charges have been filed against the sisters involved in the phony kidnapping that happened outside of a Forest Lake Wal-Mart earlier this month, according to police.
Witnesses said they watched a dark-colored vehicle parked in front of Wal-Mart at 200 12th Street S.W. at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 7, according to Forest Lake police. The trunk was open and a woman got out, chased a female, caught up to her and put her back in the trunk.
The vehicle left at a high rate of speed and could not be caught by a witness.
A day later, the mother of the girls involved called police to turn them in.
The girl put in the trunk is a 13-year-old from Lynwood. The three other sisters involved are adults. One is from Forest Lake, one is from Tennessee and the other is from North Carolina.
The adults will be charged with Disorderly Conduct and Unlawful Assembly. The Driver will be charged with Reckless Driving.
The juvenile suspect will face similar charges through the county attorney.
Names will be not be released.
Forest Lake police say many hours were put into the investigation and their department alone spent at least $7,500 on the investigation.
