5,000 Pot Plants Discovered in Pine County Drug Bust
Reported drug bust in Pine City, Minn.
At least $4 million worth of marijuana was pulled from the woods east of Hinckley during a drug bust Wednesday, July 24, authorities said.
At least 5,000 pot plants were found in patches across 40 acres of land, the Pine County Sheriff's Office reported. Currently, there are no suspects in the case.
Authorities from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the East Central Drug Violent Offender Task Force and the Pine County Sheriff's Office administered the bust around 3:30 a.m. in an area near Van Gordon Road, east of Hinckley, according to the radio station WCMP.
About 100 officers were involved from several agencies, including the DEA. Video from CHOPPER 5 on Wednesday afternoon showed authorities using dump trucks to remove marijuana from a field. It was unclear Wednesday if the land was privately owned.
