Kenny Chesney Concert Brings in Record Crowd at Target Field
A Friday night at Target Field without bats or baseballs, but guitars and drums.
For the second time country superstar Kenny Chesney is playing the venue as part of his "No Shoes Nation" tour.
The concert drew 43,940 fans, the highest attendance of any event ever held at Target Field. Last year's concert drew 43,897 fans.
Those people along with others in town for the Basilica Block party are expected to spend more than $5 Million dollars in the city, according to the Minneapolis Downtown Council.
For the businesses in the area it means big bucks, according to Hubert's General Manger Mike Christenson.
He says "The capacity at Target Field is good for us." The field can hold nearly double what the nearby Target Center can for concerts.
Target Field is planning another concert for later this month.
On July 26, The Skyline Music Fest will feature acts like Soul Asylum. That concert is expected to be much smaller.
