Thousands of Minnesotans Lose Food Due to Power Outages

With the clean-up well underway outdoors, families are now realizing they've lost most if not all of their food because of power outages.

Angela Bell's power came back on this morning in New Hope, but for 87 hours they were without.

She tried to save some stuff in coolers, but she says that's questionable. She thinks she's lost between 700 and 800 dollars worth of food.

"You forget about how much money you have in your freezer because you buy it little by little, now to go out and buy it all at once is really going to be an expense," says Bell.

Hunger Solutions Minnesota, a comprehensive hunger relief organization that works to end hunger in Minnesota, says phones have been ringing off the hook with people asking where they can get help replacing some of that lost food.

The number to call 888-711-1151.
