Researchers: Smaller Plates Could Help Childhood Obesity
Size does matter when it comes to curbing childhood obesity, according to researchers.
They say give kids a smaller plate and they'll likely eat less. The Center for Obesity Research and Education tested this theory with kids in two first-grade classrooms.
According research published in the journal Pediatrics, first-graders served themselves more and downed more calories when they used a large plate instead of a smaller one.
The children were offered two different-sized plates over the course of eight lunches.
