LIST: What to do Indoors in Minnesota

We are hitting the first days of spring, but it's cold and snowy. It's leaving many Minnesotans with the winter blues.

Explore the Great Indoors of Minnesota has compiled a list of things to do indoors:

 

  • Mill City Museum - A unique concoction of raw power, dramatic views and hands-on fun propels you through Mill City Museum.

 

  • Midtown Global Market - Midtown Global Market is an international collection of more than 50 vendors offering the finest selection of produce, delicacies, prepared foods, grocery items, and unique gifts from around the world.

 

  • Minnesota's Indoor Waterparks - Indoor waterparks are bubbling up across Minnesota. Special kiddie pools with fountains and little-kid slides, big-kid pools with super slides, inner tube rides, and big whirlpools for the big people--waterparks are a fun place to spend a rainy day.

 

  • Zoos - Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, Minnesota Zoo’s Tropics Trail,  Minneapolis Sculpture Garden's Cowles Conservatory and Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Meyers-Deats Conservatory, Chaska are always good places to think spring thoughts.

 

  • Tour the breweries of Minnesota - Artisan breweries are booming. Taste the range of Minnesota's brewing talent with our picks for some of the best beers in the state, available in bottles or cans.

  • Glensheen Mansion in Duluth - Built between 1905 and 1908, Glensheen was a family home for nearly 70 years. It was donated to the University of Minnesota and opened as a historic house museum in 1979 and, here’s the amazing part, the collection is intact.

 

  • Uptown Theatre - Check out the latest exclusive engagements and premieres, including the best in new indies, foreign films, documentaries and restored classics.

 

  • Walker Art Center - The Walker Art Center is a contemporary art center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The Walker is considered one of the nation's "big five" museums for modern art.

 

 

  • Minneapolis Institute of Art - The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is a fine art museum located in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, on a campus that covers nearly 8 acres, formerly Morrison Park.

 

  • Catch a Comedy Show - Get out of the elements and catch a few laughs and one of the many comedy clubs in the metro.

 

  • Minnesota Opera - Now regarded as America’s most exciting opera company, The Minnesota Opera was founded as Center Opera in 1963 when the Walker Art Center commissioned an opera for its performing arts program. Known as a progressive, “alternative” opera company through the early 1970s, The Minnesota Opera merged with the St. Paul Opera in 1975, and through the 1980s, began to shift its focus to include more “traditional” repertoire.

 

  • Spam Museum - Located in Austin, Minnesota, the SPAM Museum offers 16500 square feet of SPAM artifacts, history, fun facts, exhibits and displays and so much more.

 

  • Foshay Museum and Observation Deck - The Foshay Tower, now the W Minneapolis – The Foshay hotel, is a skyscraper in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Modeled after the Washington Monument, the building was completed in 1929, months before the stock market crash in October of that year.
