Edina Considers Ways to Quiet Construction
The city of Edina is moving closer to hiring an employee who would monitor homes that are being torn down to make way for redevelopment.
In Edina, some property owners have been buying small houses and tearing them down to make way for larger homes on the small lots.
Neighbors are concerned about the disruption caused by all the demolition and construction throughout the city.
The Edina City Council on Tuesday discussed possibly creating an ordinance to regulate teardown projects. City leaders also are considering hiring an employee - or contracting the job - to oversee enforcement and complaints.
The changes could be adopted April 2. If the position is approved, the employee could begin working this summer.
