75 Delta Pilots Leaving MSP Airport

About 75 pilots from Delta will be transferred from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to airports in other states.

The move, which is estimated to begin in May, would send the pilots to airports in Detroit and Atlanta, said Betsy Talton on Monday, a spokeswoman for the Atlanta-based airline, Delta.

The transfer is not expected to affect the airline's flight routes at MSP.

The move is to "ensure that we're able to adequately staff all aircraft categories in our bases," Talton said.

It's unclear how many pilots who will be transferring actually live in Minnesota since much of the workforce is mobile, Talton said. Pilots who fly Airbus A320 and McDonnell Douglas (MD-88) could be affected by the changes.

The transfers are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
