Authorities Investigate Crash in Eureka Township, 1 Killed

Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a motorist in Eureka Township.

The crash happened shortly before 7:05 a.m. on State Highway 87 north of 235th Avenue, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

A 1998 Buick Regal was southbound on Highway 87 when the driver lost control on the snowy road and veered into the northbound lane, crashing into a 2005 Toyota Sienna.

The driver of the Buick Regal was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the driver is being withheld pending family notification, the sheriff's office reported.

Tracy Mattson, 42, of St. Croix Falls, was driving the Toyota Sienna. She had her three children, ages 15, 11 and 13, in the vehicle with her.

Mattson and her children were transported to St. Croix Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.
