Legislature Playing 'Beat the Clock' on Key Bills

Nearly 3,000 bills have been introduced in the Minnesota House and Senate.

Very few of them will actually pass both chambers, get the governor's signature and become law.  The process of whittling down the number of bills is underway at the State Capitol.

Any "policy" bills that don't clear at least one key committee in the House or Senate face a much more difficult time advancing to the floor of either chamber.

The focus will return to the budget next week now that Governor Dayton has released a revised budget plan.

The DFL-controlled House and Senate will unveil their own separate budget plans next week.
