Candidate Kicks Off Run for Minneapolis Mayor
The mayors race for the city of Minneapolis is diversifying as someone else officially joined the race.
So far, three current council members and one former councilwoman have thrown their hats into the ring.
He is businessman Cam Winton.
Winton formally kicked off his campaign Tuesday evening at the Red Cow Restaurant.
Winton says his campaign is all about building on what's great about Minneapolis while bringing a fresh set of eyes to the city's challenges. The lawyer/wind turbine businessman says his campaign is all about grassroots support.
"I can stand here with firm conviction and say the following: my name is Cam Winton and I will be the next mayor of Minneapolis," Winton said.
Winton says he is not seeking the endorsement of any political party. Instead, he will run as an independent. He says he doesn't want to be beholding to anyone when he wins the top spot in the City of Minneapolis.
