Website Brings Movies on Demand to Local Theaters

We've all heard of movies on demand in your home. Now there's a website that allows you to bring the movies you want to a theater near you.

For the first time, a movie was shown Thursday at Riverview Theater in Minneapolis using the service. The website "Gathr Films" allows a person to schedule a movie at a local theater. Movies are only shown if a minimum number of people reserve tickets.

For Thursday night's Riverview screening of a documentary nearly 400 tickets were sold. Riverview plans on holding these screenings every few months. This concept is designed to help get independent films into theaters.
