Kaler Delivers State of the University Address
University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler talked about budgets and future plans at Thursday’s State of the University address.
Kaler discussed plans to move the university forward and emphasized the need for both excellence and access to higher education during his speech. He also brought up a proposal for a two-year freeze on tuition for in-state students.
Kaler rejected the plan of reducing social sciences and liberal arts core classes, which other universities are considering.
There was also a question and answer segment following the speech. Community members were asked to submit questions in advance or tweet questions using the hashtag #UMNsotu.
