Cottage Grove Changes Response to 911 Medical Calls

The city of Cottage Grove is changing the way it responds to 911 emergency medical calls.

For decades a police officer was the first to arrive on the scene, but now paramedics are taking over the lead role. The city says the move won't change response times and was made because of a rise in medical calls due to an aging population.

Other cities in the metro, including Maplewood and Woodbury send paramedics first on 911 medical calls.
