Prayer Vigil Held in Oakdale After Boy Killed
An Oakdale church held a prayer vigil Tuesday after an apparent random shooting left a 9-year-old boy dead and his mother and another woman wounded.
The vigil began at 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran church there were several hundred people in attendance, including many children who knew victim Devin Aryal.
Craft tables were available for those who wanted to write a note or light a candle in memory of a friend or loved one.
Little Emily Olson couldn't talk about it, but she did put her words to paper.
Olson's mom Ann said, "She drew a heart. And put, love Emily. Because she did love Devin."
Police say a 34-year-old Oakdale man randomly fired at passing vehicles Monday evening in a neighborhood in the St. Paul suburb.
Devin Aryal, was killed while riding in a vehicle with his mother. His 39-year-old mother was injured.
A 68-year-old woman in another vehicle was shot in the hand.
Police are holding the suspect on suspicion of second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
