Friends Remember Victims Who Fell through Minnetonka Ice

Friends of 31-year-old Harland Dietrich gathered to say goodbye Monday just steps away from where Dietrich and his grandmother, 87-year-old Mary Ann Haram, broke through the ice on Lake Minnetonka.

Dietrich worked most recently as a server at Crave in Saint Louis Park; co-workers describe his as upbeat and caring.

Friend Eric Gross says Dietrich spoke frequently about his Grandmother and that he was a role model, "Because he's a young guy and he had a chance to do whatever he wanted and he took care of his Grandma, which is one of the most admirable things I think a human being can do."

A memorial fund has been set up for Dietrich.
