It could soon cost less than $30 for a direct flight from the Twin Cities to Denver.
Florida-based Spirit Airlines announced Wednesday that it'll be offering new low-fare direct service from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) to Denver, scheduled to start April 25 through Nov. 6.
According to the airline's website, the new service would cost as low as $27.22 for a one-way flight from MSP to Denver. With taxes and fees, the price would bump to $38.90.
The ticket price also doesn't include costs for carry-on luggage, which can range from $20 to $35 a bag for domestic flights. Customers also have to pay for any checked bags.
The new direct flights are scheduled to depart daily at 2:05 p.m. from MSP, arriving at 3:06 p.m. in Denver. A second flight would depart daily from Denver at 10:29 a.m., arriving at MSP at 1:25 p.m.
“I am pleased that Spirit Airlines continues to expand air service at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport,” stated Jeff Hamiel, executive director of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which owns and operates MSP. “Cost-conscious travelers now have another option for direct service to Denver.”
Spirit currently offers daily nonstop service from MSP to Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Fort Myers, Fla., and Las Vegas. Daily nonstop service from MSP to the Dallas and Fort Worth area is scheduled to start April 4.
