Maple Grove Councilwoman Accused of Stealing Money from Father

A Maple Grove City Councilwoman is facing charges, accused of stealing more than $150,000 from her own dying father.

62-year-old Leann Sargent was a trustee for her father's estate. Along with charging her father for rent and services, prosecutors say she spent thousands more on his credit card.
   
A Hennepin county attorney called her actions "disturbing".

Sargent is charged with perjury and financial exploitation.
  
Her attorney told us she's not guilty and will defend herself vigorously in court.
