Standoff with Armed Man in Mpls. Ends in Apparent Suicide

Minneapolis police say a standoff with an armed man inside a home on the 2400 block of Pierce Street Northeast Friday ended in an apparent suicide.

Sgt. Stephen McCarty says officers responded around 1:30 p.m. to a report of a person with a gun at the residence. 

Officers established a perimeter around the home and negotiators attempted to resolve the situation. After several hours, officers were able to enter the home after determining the man was unresponsive.

Officers say the man most likely died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
